The University of Colorado women�s basketball team started slow but came on strong in the second half to put away Arizona State 57�43. The Buffs largest lead of the game was 17 points with one minute left in the game.
The No. 21 Buffs record is now 14�2 and 3�2 in Pac�12 play. This in conference win was important for the Buffs to get above .500 in conference play.
The Sun Devils were up 26�22 at halftime as the game was back and forth with the lead changing seven times. The Buffs shot only 32.1 percent from the field in the half.
The Buffs quickly took the lead and pulled away in the second half with 14 minutes left in the game the Buffs went on a 13�0 run.
“We have to start fast and finish strong, that’s our motto,� Senior Guard Chucky Jeffery said.
Freshman Arielle Roberson had seven points and 11 rebounds, a career high in rebounds for her. She only added to the huge night Jeffery had with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Her 24th career double�double.
“Like any Pac-12 game, it was very physical down there,” Roberson said.
The Buffs got off to a rough start in Pac�12 play losing to Stanford and Cal but have now bounced back with wins against Utah and ASU.
The Buffs had an undefeated non�conference schedule for the second consecutive year and have only lost to teams in the top 10.
On Sunday the Buffs play the other team from Arizona in Boulder. The University of Arizona Wildcats come to Boulder on a two game win streak and with a 11�5 record overall.
�I think they’re much, much improved over last year, and we’re just going to have to be ready on Sunday,” Head coach Linda Lappe said of the Wildcats.
