9News Parade of Lights
A longstanding Colorado tradition, the Parade of Lights kicks off the holiday season this Friday and Saturday. Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturday, the parade will feature various lighted floats, local high school marching bands and, of course, Santa bringing up the rear.
Lights of December Parade
If you don’t want to make the trip all the way to Denver for the Parade of Lights, Boulder will be holding its own miniature version of the event downtown Saturday. Beginning at 6 p.m., the Lights of December Parade will start at the intersection of 15th Street and Walnut Street, looping around and ending at 15th Street and Spruce Street.
TELEVISION
ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas
Just in time to help you procrastinate for finals, ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas begins on Saturday, with showings of “”Miracle on 34th Street” (1994), “The Family Man” and “Elf.” The full schedule can be found at ABC Family’s website.
MUSIC
The Killers at the 1STBank Center
Following the release of their third album, “Day & Age,” The Killers will be rocking at the 1STBank Center in Broomfield this Thursday, along with Canadian darlings Tegan and Sara. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show is at 8 p.m. Tickets, starting at $35, are still available for purchase here.
“Holidays Rule”
If the tried and true holiday classics are a little tired for your taste, try a fresh twist of the beloved songs on the various-artist album “Holidays Rule.” The album is riddled with new renditions of favorites, from “I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day” by The Civil Wars and “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” by The Head and the Heart, to “The Christmas Song” by Paul McCartney and “Auld Lang Syne” by Andrew Bird.
