As entertainment editor here at the CU Independent, I want you, our readers, to have an awesomely entertaining week. Here are my picks for this week, so you’ll never have to worry about being bored.
EVENTS
Monday-Saturday: If you weren’t lucky enough to get a highly coveted ticket to this week’s Great American Beer Festival (Oct. 11-13), fret not. The Denver Beer Fest is happening all week in Lower Downtown, featuring a Denver-wide bar crawl, brewery tours and rare beer tastings. Ticket prices vary with events.
Thursday: If you’re heading downtown to get your drink on, stop by CUI’s Ladies night at Absinthe House. Free drinks for ladies from 9 p.m. to midnight and you can sip your gin and tonic while chatting with the staff of the CUI.
Friday: Ladies night is returning to Club 156, located inside the UMC. Sponsored by Program Council, this week’s show will feature music from Be.Good, Niftee and Spend the Night. Tickets are free for ladies (hence the whole “ladies night” thing) and $7 for everyone else. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the fun starts at 8:30 p.m.
MOVIES
Friday: Starring and directed by Ben Affleck, “Argo” combines Hollywood and the Iranian hostage crisis of the ‘70s in one thrilling blockbuster hit. Following the true story of a covert CIA operation, “Argo” is sure to be one action movie with a plot that hasn’t already been repeated over (and over) again.
ANY DAY PROCRASTINATION
Written in the perspective of the ever-stylish Suri Cruise, the Suri’s Burn Book blog is everything a snarky, celeb-watching eleven-year-old would love (and maybe any procrastinating college student also). Updated daily with her witty remarks on fashion and celebrity culture, this blog will provide you with countless hours of mindless laughing out loud.
