Only two CU tennis players won singles matches over the weekend at the five-team Adidas Hoosier Classic hosted by Indiana University.
The Adidas Hoosier Classic was the first tournament for the Buffs this fall.
CU sophomore Ashley Tiefel won her first two matches, but lost in the finals to Purdue University’s Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum. After losing in her first two matches of singles play, junior Carla Manzi Tenorio won her first match of the season in consolation play. No other Buffs were victorious in singles.
In doubles play, the Buffs won three of their eight matches, with all three victories coming on the second day in consolation play.
Tiefel got her fall season off to a great start, making the finals in the Buffs’ first tournament. The rest of the Buffs have work to do moving forward.
The Adidas Hoosier Classic also featured Kansas State University, the University of Notre Dame and Purdue University, though no team score was recorded at the tournament.
The Buffs will travel next to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. for a tournament on Oct. 5-7, followed by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Regional in Las Vegas from Oct. 10-14.
