The Colorado women’s tennis team lost all five of its matches at the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, Calif. on Thursday and Friday.
The Buffs struggled all season against Pac-12 competition, going 0-10 in conference play. During the championships, the team failed to win a single match.
Competing in the conference singles championships were sophomores Kristina Schleich and Winde Janssens and freshman Julyette Steur. The doubles pair competing in the championships was Janssens and Schleich.
All three women competing in the singles competition lost in straight sets. The doubles pairing of Janssens and Schleich lost 8-1 to No. 4 seed Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez of University of California, Los Angeles.
Thursday’s matches were delayed by two separate rain delays. It was only delaying the inevitable though as the Buffs finished the season winless in conference play. The weather got better on Friday, but the Buffs’ play didn’t, and they failed to have anyone in the tournament move on to the second round.
The Buffs will look to grow next season as they are the only Pac-12 team not ranked in the top 68 nationally. The team is very young and should grow with the experience garnered during its first season in the Pac-12.
