An Evening with Sam Harris @ Macky Auditorium
Beginning at 7:30 p.m. the CU Distinguished Speakers Board will be hosting an evening with Sam Harris. Harris is a neuroscientist and New York Times best-selling author. He will speak about the illusion of free will and the moral and scientific implications of recent discoveries that indicate that many of the mechanisms that govern human behavior are random. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and tickets are $2 for students with valid student ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Distinguished Speakers Board table on the first floor of the UMC between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Janine Antoni @ the VAC
CU’s Department of Art and Art History’s Visiting Artist Program will present performance artist and sculptor Janine Antoni. Antoni has chiseled cubes of lard and chocolate with her teeth, washed away the faces of soap busts made in her own likeness, and used the brainwave signals recorded while she dreamed at night as a pattern for weaving a blanket the following morning. Beginning at 7 p.m. in the Visual Arts Complex, Antoni will present her body of work in which she has transformed everyday activities into ways of making art. This event is free for CU students.

The Swell Season @ The Dairy Center for the Arts
A documentary about the band behind Once, “The Swell Season” is much more than a music documentary. It is a volatile and intimate portrait of a romance that fractures in the face of life on the road and personal tragedy. The film stars Markéta Irglová and Glen Hansard and begins at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $10.
Gogol Bordello @ Boulder Theater
High-energy gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello will play an all ages show at Boulder Theater. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35.

Ladies Night with the CU Independent @ Absinthe House
Absinthe House and the CU Independent are hosting Ladies Night this week, once again. Women enjoy free drinks from 10 p.m. till midnight while DJ Petey mixes sweet jams.

10th Annual Boulder Strong Ale Festival @ Avery Brewing

CU Idol @ the UMC
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for this year’s CU Idol finals. Beginning at 7 p.m. students will compete in the Glenn Miller Ballroom for a $1,000 prize. Bring iClickers to vote.
