The Buffaloes hosted the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Denver this weekend at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House bubble.
After defeating Northern Colorado on Saturday, the Buffaloes fell to the University of Denver on Sunday, ending their winning streak and putting their record at 5-3 for the spring season.

The Buffs started the weekend strong, defeating the UNC Bears 5-2. Colorado looked strong in the doubles matches, sweeping all three matches to start off the day. Sophomore Kristina Schleich and freshman Julyette Steur defeated UNC’s freshmen Lizzie Tapia and Stephanie Catlin 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
CU sophomore duo Winde Janssens and Carla Manzi Tenorio, ranked No. 55 in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, edged Northern Colorado’s Adriana Nieto and Jennifer Whateley with an 8-5 score. Schleich, Janssens, Manzi Tenorio and Steur all won their singles matches in straight sets. Saturday’s victories improved all four players’ spring records to 5-2.
On Sunday, however, the Buffaloes fell to in-state rival University of Denver 5-2. CU lost all three doubles matches to give up the doubles point and gave up four of six singles matches. The Buffs’ only two victories over DU were Steur over Caroline Schnell in three sets and Manzi Tenorio over DU’s Natalie Dunn, after Dunn retired after the first match.
Next weekend the Buffaloes will be on the road in Lincoln, Neb., playing Saint Louis University and the University of Nebraska.
