Breanna Miller, Ian Harold, and Zeke Johnson are three out of 32 CU students who went for the 24th Creating Change Conference in Baltimore, Maryland two weeks ago.
As a national conference on LGBT equality, the Creating Change Conference belongs to the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, which was founded in New York in 1973. Until that year, the American Psychiatric Association classified homosexuality as a mental disorder.
Creating change for LGBT equality is never easy, because what they are changing is not just a system or a policy, but also the stereotypical thinking that permeates our culture.
Through programs like the Creating Change Conference, people have become more understanding and respectful toward the LGBT community. But, can this “respect” help solve those still debating LGBT issues?
