On lokalite, a local site that features everything from happy hours to tricycle races around Boulder, there is an astounding number of entries under Happy Hour events.
This past Wednesdays happy hour events page alone included about 70 happy hours from which to choose.
After having perused for a good half hour, I decided I needed to try Boulder Cafes Boulders Best Happy Hour. This daily happy hour offers half-price appetizers and half-off beer. My frugal side was greatly appeased.
This Wednesday afternoon, the time arrived. After many failed attempts, a group of friends and I decided to finally make the pilgrimage.
When I got there, the first thing I saw was a bar pleasantly filled with Boulderites and beer, which is always a good sign. During this visit, the draft beers included options from Avery Brewing, Odell Brewing and Twisted Pine Brewing.
Unfortunately, homework prevented me from ordering one. Instead, I settled on an appetizer. All the choices on the menu were appealing, but the hummus plate prevailed. Three varieties of hummus and a mixture of flatbread and crositini left me satisfied but not stuffed.
Another tasty option, according to my waitress, was the all-time favorite Alpine Fondue. After hearing this, the smell of
Gruyere that gave a distinctly Swiss aroma to the restaurant made more sense.
The Boulder Cafe is a great option for much more than appetizers. If you prefer burgers or wine, the cafe has it under control.
Burger and Beer Night is every Wednesday from 4 p.m. until close, and offers a free beer with every 8-ounce steak-burger. The cafe also offers Wine Sundays, which keep us winos happy with a half-price bottle of wine with every entree.
Having had such a happy happy hour, I cant help but wonder what other steals there are to be had. Whats next on my list? Aji Restaurant.
