According to a CU-Boulder news release, 14 students currently studying in Japan have all been accounted for and all are unharmed.
The students are studying in Akita City, Osaka and Tokyo. According to the news release, none of the three university campuses, where the students are, had severe damage as a result of the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunamis that struck off the coast of Japan on Friday.
Three of the students have been confirmed unharmed by third parties while the other 11 have been confirmed unharmed directly with the university, according to the news release. Efforts are being made to directly confirm the three students.
According to AP, the earthquake was the strongest quake to strike the area in over a thousand years.
The earthquake, according to AP, also has also created concerns about leakage of radioactive materials from nuclear power plants that were affected by the quake.
In addition to students currently already there, five more students are scheduled to arrive in Japan within 30 days for a study abroad program.
