Tuesday was a struggle for the Buffs.
The No. 21 CU women’s golf team finished fourth in the 2011 Juli Inkster/San Jose State Spartan Invitational Tuesday. The Buffs finished the tournament with a 43-over par 907.
The Buffs were tied for second coming into Tuesday, but a 15-over final round dropped them down two places.
No. 9 California took the overall title with a 17-over 881. The Golden Bears’ nearest competitor was UC Davis, which was 18 strokes behind.
Junior Jess Wallace led the Buffs, shooting a 1-over 73 and finishing seventh overall. Her third round included two birdies and three bogeys.
Freshman Jenny Coleman finished 11th individually, her best career performance. Coleman’s overall score was 225 (9-over). She shot 2-over Tuesday after shooting a birdie, and bogey and a double bogey.
Junior Emily Talley finished with a 13-over 229 and finished 18th. Her finish broke her school record of top-10 finishes at seven.
Freshman Kristin Coleman finished tied for 28th, finishing 8-over on the day and 17-over for the tournament. Sophomore Taylor Doyle’s 23-over 239 was good enough for 45th, while freshman Tessa The finished tied for 55th with a 27-over 243.
The Buffs head East for their next tournament. They will travel to Gainesville, Fla., for the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational on March 6-7.
