It is not often one finds a parental warning on a book talk.
Such was the case when CU graduates, Jordan Larousse and Samantha Sade discussed their sophomore erotic nonfiction book on Wednesday at the Boulder Book Store.
The book entitled, Mastering Your Man Head to Head: How to Work Your Man Below the Belt, Between the Ears, and Beneath the Sheets for Exceptional Sex, acts as a how-to-guide for women to pleasure their men.
Author Samantha Sades opinion on the book was that, Its quite a mouthful.
This cheeky book signing had attendees ranging from men to women, undergrads to moms and dads. Sex is somewhat of a universal, but rarely discussed topic; these young authors made it fun, humorous and enjoyable for all appropriate ages.
The duo, Larousse and Sade, said they became best friends in 5th grade while growing up in Boulder. Since high school, they have aspired to become writers. That dream came true after the start of their erotic website, Oystersandchocolate.com, was recognized by Penguin Group. Then came their debut book, Oysters and Chocolate: Erotic Stories of Every Flavor.
It was a very lighthearted, informal event sprinkled with humor and blushes. It is not easy to discuss sex, research, and sexual encounters in front of a group of strangers with poise and personality. The duo was able to pull it off with pauses of laughter and giggles in between. Larousse even opened up and discussed one of her intimate pole dancing stories (to which her boyfriend responded with, I think the fries are done!)
The authors released some surprising statistics during the book event. Some examples of these are: a teaspoon of semen contains five calories, 72 percent of men want emotional connection during sex and the majority of men have experienced with BDSM (some variation of bondage, domination, submission, sadism, masochism). They gathered information from 500 women and 320 men as well as doctors in fields such as sex therapy. The duo even interviewed a CU professor who teaches the class, Social Construction of Sexuality.
The book itself had the same information and humor as the presentation. It features easy-to-read graphs and detailed diagrams which allow anyone to understand. However, with chapter names such as The Penis Name Game, How to Give a Breathtaking B.J. and Go Forth And Fuck, the book did not take things too heavily.
Jackson Tilley, an 18-year-old freshman journalism major, said he appreciated the overall layout of the book, but particularly enjoyed the full-color pictures.
The diagrams were like a Lichtenstein pun intended, Tilley said.
While Tilly said he enjoyed the book itself, 17-year-old pre-journalism major Trent Lyon said he liked the presentation.
I learned a lot of spicy tips during the presentation, but my favorite part was the trailer to the book, Lyon said. I thought it was really funny.
The literary duo said they have at least three more books planned for their future.
They will be releasing another collection of erotic stories, a book about the male anatomy entitled Penis Genius, and a nonfiction story about the vagina, yet to be titled.
