Despite struggles this season, some members of the Colorado women’s soccer team are receiving recognition for their efforts.
Junior Midfield Kate Russell, freshman goalkeeper Annie Brunner and freshman forward Alex Dohm were all included on All-Big 12 conference teams, the league announced Monday.
Russell and Dohm were both named to the second team All-Big 12, while Dohm and Brunner were included on the All-Big 12 newcomer team.
Going into the Big 12 tournament, Russell has recorded three goals and two assists, which leads Colorado in offense. Her 40 shots and additional 19 shots on goal also lead the Buffs.
Dohm is only the fourth Buff to receive both second team All-Big 12 and All-Big 12 newcomer in the same season. She had one goal and one assist for the season, and her defensive efforts were pivotal in the upset of then No. 10 UCLA.
Brunner played in all 19 of Colorado’s regular season games and started 18 of them. She ranks fourth in the Big 12 in goals against, with an average of 1.14 scored per game and one shut out, as well as 33 recorded saves during the season.
Colorado will begin the Big 12 Tournament Nov. 3, when they will take on Texas A&M in San Antonio, Texas at 4:30 p.m.
