Created by senior Dan Rolland, Hungry Buffs is a compilation of local menus from restaurants all over Boulder. Along with the menus, many restaurants give students the option to order food online for pick-up or delivery to their homes or dorms. Some restaurants even offer free delivery.
“After learning what a wide variety of restaurants Boulder has to offer, I realized that finding and comparing menus can be real time consuming and aggravating,” Rolland said on the company’s website. “This is when I came up with the idea to create an interactive, dynamic website that would be available at any hour.”
Cuisines range from American to Indian to Italian to desserts. With over 150 restaurants to choose from, the selection of food seems endless.
From Sept. 27 to Oct. 1, Hungry Buffs further garnered attention by introducing Eat Cheap Week. During the week, over 20 participating restaurants offered meals for as cheap as $2.
One participating restaurant, D.P. Dough, attracted people with their signature calzones. The restaurant offers dozens of different types of calzones, each with a unique mixture of ingredients.
Marci Fischer, a sophomore history major, said the calzone came as a great, appetizing alternative to the dining hall during Eat Cheap Week.
“I ordered the Italian Zone and my friend ordered the Strike Zone,” Fischer said. “We also ordered a side, but neither of us could finish because they were so filling.”
Another Italian restaurant, Papa Romano’s, got a lot of attention from the freshman class when it gave away free pizzas in a promotion with Hungry Buffs in September. Their distinct style of pizza attracted many people to come back to them, including 18-year-old freshman French major Kelsey Chesterfield.
“What I like about Papa Romano’s is that it’s different from a lot of other pizzas,” Chesterfield said. “A lot of other pizza places around here have thin crust, but Papa Romano’s crust is thick.”
Whether it’s for lunch, dinner or a midnight snack, HungryBuffs.com is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With promotions such as Eat Cheap Week, the site makes sure that every Buff’s appetite is satisfied.
