Reports of a white male prowler in northwest Boulder are currently under investigation by the Boulder Police, according to a news release.
The man, described as a thin, 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet tall, light-haired 19 to 22-year-old, has been reported for stalking Dakota Ridge and Northbriar estates from 10:45 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to the release.
The police are trying to determine whether this prowler is linked to several reported attempted home entries since Aug. 29, according to the release.
Since May, a suspect with a similar description has been linked to five incidents of attempted entry into unlocked houses, cars, or garages east throughout Boulder, according to a release. These earlier incidents were reported, however, during daylight hours, unlike the most recent prowler.
The suspect described from the reported break-ins that occurred in May was described as a white male in his 20s, 6 feet, 3 inches tall with a thin build, wearing khaki shorts and a short-sleeved shirt, according to a separate Boulder news release.
Sarah Huntley, communication coordinator for the Boulder Police Department, said that at this point, police are investigating similarities between the two waves of break-ins.
“[Boulder police] do believe there is that possibility,” Huntley said. “They are looking at similarities in the suspect description and the similarities in the cases.”
Huntley said the police department is asking that Boulder residents report any suspicious behavior.
“Sometimes people are reluctant to do that,” she said. “But considering the number of complaints related to this or these prowlers, we would very much as people to help us by being our eyes and ears.”
The Boulder Police is asking anyone with information on the prowler to call the Boulder Police Detective Section at (303) 441-3330 and for those who wish to remain anonymous to call Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, according to the release.
