The Lone Star State has not been kind to the Colorado Buffaloes tennis team.
CU dropped their second straight match in the state on Sunday, falling to the No. 2 Baylor Bears 7-0 in Waco, Texas.
Colorado lost 5-2 on Friday at Texas Tech, dropping their overall record to 10-10 and 3-6 in the Big 12 conference.
The victory for Baylor (21-2, 9-0 Big 12) was their 14th in a row with them winning all three doubles and all six singles matches against CU. Five of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets.
The closest Colorado got to a singles victory came in No. 2 singles, where senior Melisa Esposito won the first set 6-3, but would lose the final two to succumb to her opponent, No. 18 nationally ranked Nina Secerbegovic.
Senior Monica Milewski lost her first conference match in her last seven contests, losing 6-3, 6-2 to No. 5 nationally ranked Lenka Broosova. It was only Milewski’s second loss in her last 13 matches and her first in nearly a month.
The Buffs have two remaining matches in the regular season against No. 34 Texas A&M on Friday and No. 20 Texas on Saturday. CU will return to Texas to play in the Big 12 Championships in Austin from Apr. 29 to May 2.
