Lee Mun Wah, an acclaimed lecturer and master diversity and communications trainer, is coming to CU to present “What Stands Between Us.”
The presentation “What Stands Between Us,” which will take place on Tuesday, will focus on breaking down the walls in society, according to a post by Amy Herdy, adviser for the CU Independent, on the Web site’s forum. Wah will also address healthy ways to communicate in a diverse society.
The event is being co-sponsored by the CU Independent and the Center for
Multicultural Affairs .
Cameron Naish, a 21-year-old senior news editorial major and managing editor for the CU Independent, said the presentation will go from 9 a.m. to noon in Old Main, and is free and open to the public.
Naish said that sponsoring Wah is in connection with the CU Independent’s “Speak Out!” campaign. “Speak Out!” is a student-run social movement that addresses discrimination on campus, according to the CU Independent Web site.
“This event is a great step in the continuing promise the CU Independent has made in bringing awareness to the community with the ‘Speak Out!’ campaign,” Naish said.
Leslie Wong, the Center for Multicultural Affairs student support services coordinator, said that the event is one way to promote diversity on campus.
“We’ve always supported diversity initiatives like this that promote a broader understanding and competency on working with diverse constituents,” Wong said.
