A CU student is in jail after allegedly threatening to stab her roommate in the throat.
CU Police arrested 19-year-old Delores Jones, a freshman psychology major, after Bear Creek residential advisers saw her pacing one of the building’s entryways with knife on the night of Sunday, Oct. 26, according to Cmdr. Tim McGraw.
“Around 7:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to Bear Creek Apartments,” McGraw said. “While en route, they were advised that a woman there had a knife and was threatening to harm somebody with it, but wasn’t in contact with the person [being threatened] at that particular time.”
According to a police report, Jones and her roommate had apparently been in a physical fight, as both women had minor bruises on their faces. Jones told officers that she left her room afterwards.
Bear Creek employees said that they heard loud noises from an elevator and saw Jones exit on the first floor, holding a knife.
“We … watched her pace by the front doors on the phone talking about her roommates and how they fought and she was going to ‘stab [her roommate] in the throat,’” said Bear Creek CSS Erika Silvernale in a written statement to police.
According to the report, when officers arrived they found Jones in another apartment, along with a broken “butcher” knife, with a blade longer than seven inches, in the kitchen trash can.
According to the report, “Jones stated that she had been banging it against the wall in the elevator on the way down,” when asked why the knife was broken.
The police report also stated that both Jones and [her roommate] had engaged in a physical fight because both women had minor bruises on their faces.
Jones was arrested for felony menacing, disorderly conduct, unlawfully carrying a weapon on university grounds and harassment. A call to the jail on Wednesday revealed that Jones is still being held with a bond of $5,000.
