Jenny Barringer does it again!
Barringer, a 2008 U.S. Olympian, notched her second individual win of the season to help the No. 19 Colorado Buffaloes women’s cross country team finish first place at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational on Saturday at the La Vern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
Barringer crossed the finish line of the 6-kilometer course in 19 minutes and 50.9 seconds, 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Susan Kuijken from Florida State.
Helping the Buffs to victory was 4-foot-10 freshman Allie McLaughlin. She finished tenth at 20:45.6 as Colorado scored 94 points, 41 ahead of FSU’s 135.
The men’s team, ranked No. 4 in the country, represented well as they placed second with 130 points. Stanford, the nation’s top-ranked team, won the race with 47 points.
Although the men’s team didn’t have a top 10 finisher, five of their six runners placed in the top 40. Sophomore Christian Thompson (24:04) and junior Richard Medina (24:07.3) were the Buffs top two men’s finishers in the 8k race and their times were personal best.
CU won’t return to action until Oct. 31 when they head to Columbia, Mo., for the Big 12 Championship. The men have won 12-of-13 Big 12 championships while the women has captured 11.
