Marking an advance in the search for CU’s next president, the Board of Regents named 15 committee members Thursday who will conduct a nation-wide search to fill the position.
Current university President Hank Brown announced in January that he will step down in February 2008.
The Board of Regents made the announcement after voting to expand the presidential search committee. Regent Steve Bosley, will serve as committee chairman and will lead the group in reviewing job candidates and presenting formal recommendations to the Board of Regents, which is the final authority for hiring.
“The search committee effectively represents a broad cross-section of the University of Colorado’s statewide constituency, and the Board of Regents is confident of a great result in this critical search,” said Board Chair Pat Hayes, in a statement released campus-wide by the university Thursday.
In the same statement, Hayes said the board had received 63 nominations for committee members and had a difficult task in sizing the group to its current 15 members.
The committee will now hold an organizational meeting and prepare for an official charge from the board, to be expected in the coming weeks.
