Rams still up 14-10 with one quarter left
End of third quarter:
The Buffs squandered a good return by Robinson and could not garner a single first down on their next drive. Jackson’s pass on third and 10 was nearly intercepted by CSU. DiLallo’s punt on fourth down went off the side of his foot and only went 39 yards, giving the Rams ample field position rather than pinning them deep in their own end.
CSU’s next series brought Ram receiver Johnny Walker into the spotlight. Walker caught a screen pass for 21 yards, ran for 11 yards on a wide receiver option, and caught two other wide receiver screen passes for 11 more yards, giving him eight catches for 116 yards at the end of the third quarter.
Those plays by Walker moved CSU to the Buffs’ 27-yard line, and yet another screen pass to Walker ended the third quarter. Hanie’s first incompletion on the day did not come until there were 8 seconds remaining in the quarter.
