Senior guard academically ineligible
Marcus Hall, a guard for CU’s varsity basketball team, will miss part of the 2006-2007 season because of academic ineligibility.
Hall is academically ineligible for the Fall 2006 semester, according to a statement released by the athletic department on Wednesday.
“Marcus will be able to use the semester to focus solely on academics, giving him the opportunity to receive his degree from the University of Colorado,” CU head coach Ricardo Patton said in a prepared statement.
Athletic department spokesman Andrew Green said Hall, Patton and the athletic department are declining to comment further on the issue until a press conference next month.
Hall, a senior sociology major, could still play in the spring if his academic performance improves this semester. However, he will use his fourth year of athletic eligibility if he plays in the spring.
One of two seniors on this year’s team, Hall has started 44 of his 88 career games. He averages 8.3 points and 3.4 assists per game, according to the press release. He also ranks ninth on the school’s all-time assist list, 10th in 3-pointers made and 19th in steals.
