Boulder frequently attracts great musicians to its famous venues, but it also has its fair share of up-and-coming, homegrown bands.
Moon Poodle, a four-man group comprised of Tyler Sicilia, Merrick Harris, Ryan Corcoran and Jason Ballein — all seniors at CU — uphold Boulder’s reputation as a breeding ground for potential musical trendsetters.
The band started in the fall of 2013 with Sicilia, Harris and Corcoran, adding Ballein into the mix during the summer of 2014.
“To sum it up, our music is soaking wet, raw rock-and-roll,” Sicilia said.
“Once we realized it sounded good, and that we enjoyed the music we were playing, we figured we would start performing,” Corcoran said.
Moon Poodle has an array of original songs they play at every show, but they also cover popular tunes from musicians like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Between mixing it up with their own compositions and covering some of the classics, each performance is different from the last.
The band has played at numerous house parties and events around Boulder, and Nov. 13 will mark their fourth show at The Lazy Dog. The Quick & Easy Boys, a band from Portland, Ore., will be closing. The event is 21+ and free.
