Buffs announce spring game details
As spring flowers bloom, so does the CU football team. The squad is preparing for the annual spring game with new Head Coach Jon Embree on Saturday at Folsom Field.
But this year the traditional scrimmage will be played under the stadium lights. This is the first time the game will be played at night, starting at 6 p.m.
Embree and his troupe of new coaches will showcase the fruits of spring practice in front at CU’s storied coliseum in a form of a standard offense versus defense scrimmage. Last year’s event displayed 82 plays in about one hour and 15 minutes.
An alumni flag football game coached by former coaches Bill McCartney and Gary Barnett is also scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on the stadium floor. A postgame autograph session with players is slated after the Spring Game.
The game will be broadcasted by KKZN-Radio at around 6 to 8 p.m. There is no cost for admission.
Soccer finished spring play posting 3-4-3 record
Posting a 3-4-3 record in spring play after traveling to Denver to play a three-game schedule on Sunday, the Buffs are now done playing until fall competition in the Pac-12, one of the toughest women’s soccer conference.
The Buffs tied Fort Lewis College 1-1 in their first contest of the day. Freshman Annie Stuller scored after an assist from freshman Hayley Hughes to give CU a 1-0 lead before the Skyhawks evened the score 1-1 in the 50 minute game.
The Buffs ended the day with a 1-0-2 record.
“We achieved our goal of not losing, and we played fairly decent,” Head Coach Bill Hempen said. “It was a pretty good way to go out. There are a lot of things to think about in the offseason and lots to work on. It was definitely worthwhile for us to play all of these spring games.”
